چکیده

2014 A study of the proton nuclear relaxation of crystalline thiophene has been undertaken. Our results demonstrate that, in both the stable and the metastable phase sequences, the in-plane molecular reorientation does not have a single correlation time. This non Lorentzian nuclear relaxation is discussed in terms of a distribution of correlation times and in terms of the mathematically equivalent model of unequal potential wells. We conclude that the observed relaxation feature is the dynamical fingerprint for glass-forming materials. J. Phys. France 50 (1989) 855-859 15 AVRIL 1989,

Liquid limits: glass transition and liquid-gas spinodal boundaries of metastable liquids.

The liquid-gas spinodal and the glass transition define ultimate boundaries beyond which substances cannot exist as (stable or metastable) liquids. The relation between these limits is analyzed via computer simulations of a model liquid. The results obtained indicate that the liquid-gas spinodal and the glass transition lines intersect at a finite temperature, implying a glass-gas mechanical in...

Nuclear magnetic resonance studies of supercooled aqueous electrolyte solutions

The dynamic properties of water molecules coordinated to simple ions (alkali and alkali-earth halides) and hydrophobic ions (tetraalkylammonium (TAA) halides) in supercooled solutions have been investigated with KMR. The study of spin-lattice relaxation rates and self-diffusion coefficients as functions of temperature, pressure, Larmor frequency and concentration reveals characteristic features...

Single Molecule Experiments Reveal the Dynamic Heterogeneity and Exchange Time Scales of Polystyrene near the Glass Transition

In a polymeric material near its glass transition temperature, segmental dynamics of a given spatial region may differ considerably from that of neighboring regions without apparent structural origin, analogous to the supercooled liquid state of low molecular weight glass formers. Given that the supercooled liquid state is a (metastable) equilibrium state, spatial variations in dynamics are exp...

Glass transition of hard sphere systems: molecular dynamics and density functional theory.

The glass transition of a hard sphere system is investigated within the framework of the density functional theory (DFT). Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations are performed to study the dynamical behavior of the system on the one hand and to provide the data to produce the density field for the DFT on the other hand. Energy landscape analysis based on the DFT shows that there appears a metastabl...

Mini-emulsion preparation, kinetics of reaction and physical properties of acrylic terpolymer lattices

In this study, stable lattices of terpolymer butyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate, and styrene were synthesized by a mini-emulsion polymerization technique using tert-butyl hydroperoxide TBHP/Fe2 /ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid/sodium formaldehyde sulfoxylate redox initiators at room temperature, and the kinetics of the reaction were studied. The reaction rate was obtained from periodic samplin...
